In the heart of Yangon, Hotel Grand United 21st Downtown is close to Bogyoke Market, Sule Pagoda, and Shwedagon Pagoda.

The location makes staying at Hotel Grand United 21st Downtown a good choice, as is in a vibrant area buzzing with plenty to see – and getting around is very easy – this hotel makes for a great base, with nice rooms, a rooftop terrace where the breakfast is served, a restaurant and a gym are located. However the service was poor and substandard on the terrace and the breakfast okay but nothing fabulous, other than the views.

I didn’t get the room I paid for, which was for a Superior Room with Street/City View, which I paid more for, and despite raising the issue I was told I had the correct room (which I highly doubt) with no view at all. Saying this, the room was clean and adequate, but don’t bother paying more for it as you won’t spend much time in it, the local area is far too interesting.

Featuring the View Rooftop Restaurant serving Burmese and international dishes, but you’ll find better options in the surrounding area. It also is where the breakfast is served, but makes for a great place to enjoy a beer and a view of views of Shwedagon Pagoda, Yangon River and downtown Yangon.

The 39 air-conditioned guestrooms at Hotel Grand United 21st Downtown include minibars and safes. Complimentary wireless high-speed Internet access is provided. Rooms are equipped with LED TVs with satellite channels. Bathrooms offer bathtubs or showers, bathrobes, slippers, and complimentary toiletries. In-room coffee/tea makers and complimentary bottled water are provided. In addition, housekeeping is offered daily.

The hotel is conveniently accessible and within walking distance to local attractions. It is a 10-minute walk from the Sule Pagoda. The Shwedagon Pagoda is a 5-minute drive from Grand United Hotel (21st Downtown), while the Yangon International Airport is 11.2 miles away. Burmese food stalls and unique local shops and within a few minutes walk.
