Within a village setting, Mövenpick Resort & Spa Dead Sea offers direct access to the unsinkable waters of the Dead Sea with all the luxury of a top class hotel and resort.
A swanky place after you pass the strict security entrance if you have a reservation and airport bag screening. Once inside it is as flashy as expected, it works more like a small village inside the complex. Set on the northern shores of the Dead Sea, it has 2000 year old olive trees along with palm trees and lush plants and water features and tight alleyways.
The facilities are very nice and clean, modern interiors and outdoor style village with four restaurants and night entertainment and several cafes and bars. Multiple pools that look out at the Dead Sea with family and children areas, it also caters to upbeat trendy travelers in a more adult zone. Direct access to a wide private beach and opportunity to float in the lowest place on earth – the Dead Sea, with no need to pay to access public beaches as it is already included in your stay.
This is top-notch, as expected from Mövenpick, great sized rooms, however the free minibar doesn’t stock alcohol, which is expensive in Jordan anyway. I found myself with a sea view in room Y126 (despite my booking not stating this) and was well pleased. The only down side was wifi seemed faulty, only 10 metres outside my door it seemed to work but not connect in my room. I did mention this to the front desk and found two technical guys measuring the signal, but was not rectified for the only night I stayed.
Staying in the Dead Sea means you’ll be a captive customer once you discover there is else here and stuck finding yourself spending 12JD for a pint of beer (£10/$15US). With dinner menus no less than 26JD to start, but the breakfasts are superb with an excellent choice of made-to-order meals and fresh fruit options and pastries.
It is what is. It serves us silly travelers who come all this way to float in unsinkable sea at the lowest place on earth, but Mövenpick Resort & Spa Dead Sea is a great choice. I especially like the Eco solar golf carts.
