Design firm HOK created the world’s best passenger terminal for Qatar Airways. The new airport in Doha with a capacity of up to 50 million passengers per year.
This is the first airport in the world to be designed by an airline, Qatar Airways, architecture that matches the 5-star travel experience of its passengers.
It has 20,000m2 of retail space, a public mosque, two 100 room transfer hotels, a health spa and possibly the biggest and most elegant business lounge in the world, the Al Mourjan Lounge.
The construction of the airport takes 29km2 with 60% of it being reclaimed land from the sea. With 2 runways, 65 boarding gates, and the world’s largest free-span hangars which can accommodate up to 13 aircraft simultaneously, including wide-body aircraft.
It is seriously impressive and efficient.
